BOC Port of Davao (Sub-Port of Dadiangas), Naval Forces Apprehends PHP 1.9M Worth of Smuggled Cigars

Through the intensified land and maritime surveillance activity between the Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Sub-port of Dadiangas and Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM), apprehended forty (40) boxes of Indonesian made Gudang Baru smuggled cigarettes worth Php 1.9M on October 24, 2021. The illicit goods were loaded in a motorized banca at the waters of Glan, Saranggani Bay.



The seized cigarettes were taken into custody by the Enforcement and Security Service of the Bureau and the two (2) crews namely Mr. Sandy Sawotong and Mr. Edison Pareda, both of legal age and a resident of Brgy. Calumpang, General Santos City, were detained for further investigation.


A Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) was already issued against the smuggled items in violation of Section 1113 of Republic Act No. 10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).




BOC Davao led by District Collector, Atty. Erastus Sandino B. Austria, continues to strengthen ties with partner agencies for the proper enforcement of customs laws.
