The Bureau of Customs (BOC), Port of Davao’s Water Patrol Division, participated in the Maritime-Interagency Exercise hosted by the Eastern Mindanao Command (EASTMINCOM), where the Port demonstrated operations of its Fast-Patrol Boats during the sea-related apprehensions. The said activity was held at the Naval Forces Grounds, Panacan, Davao City, on June 30, 2022.

The exercise featured the simulation of involved agencies’ operations whenever there is unlawful action in maritime waters. BOC’s part involved inspecting and validating the reported suspected smuggled items and contrabands found on board.

The objective of the exercise is to further strengthen its collaboration and test the inter-operability capacities of involved maritime agencies in Region Xi during Maritime Security Operations.

The said exercise was participated by the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao’s Joint Task Force Seahawk, Coastguard District of Southeastern Mindanao (CGDESEM), Philippine National Police-Regional Maritime Unit XI (PNP-RMUXI), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources XI (BFAR XI), Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DCDRRMO), Davao Central 911 and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Davao, Water Patrol Division.

Under the leadership of District Collector, Atty. Erastus Sandino B. Austria and the guidance of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, the BOC ensures that it will continue its rigorous efforts against smuggling and customs fraud while continuously modernizing its procedures and processes.
